Pace Communications Inflights Dominate In 2007 MRI Fall Audience Numbers
United Hemispheres Reaches More Affluent Readers Than Any Other Publication

Greensboro, NC (November 24, 2007)—Forget Forbes, Fortune, The Wall Street Journal. If you want to know what publications more affluent readers are picking up, look no further than the seat-pocket in front of you. According to the most recent MRI data for Fall 2007, inflight magazines regularly get more time with the nation’s top earners, and leading the pack is United Airlines’ Hemispheres magazine, published by Pace Communications, the world’s largest privately-owned custom publishing company.

Hemispheres now boasts an audience of 2.2 million monthly readers with the highest median household income, $123,233, of any national publication. As the nation’s most affluent print title, Hemispheres beat out business stalwarts The Wall Street Journal, Barron’s, Fortune and Forbes, as well as leading travel, epicurean, women’s and men’s magazines. The new numbers reflect a readership growth of 21 percent in the last five years, with a 22 percent growth in top management readership. In addition, the median reading time for Hemispheres is 26.8 minutes per issue, the longest reading time among all inflight and all national travel magazines.

“Inflights have been quietly gaining strength and prominence for years,” said Craig Waller, Chief Marketing and Sales Officer for Pace Communications. “It’s no secret that the skies are more crowded than ever, and all those travelers are looking for quality reading material. Pace’s top-notch publications are put together by writers and editors who are among in the best in the business—there’s a reason well-educated, affluent readers want to spend time with our magazines.”

In addition to Hemispheres, the established inflight leader, Pace Communications-produced titles for Delta Air Lines, Southwest Airlines, and US Airways are also drawing an enviable readership with their innovative and sophisticated content.
